Since its release in December 2022, the AI chatbot ChatGPT has held a stranglehold on the internet. It's hardly surprising that dating apps are joining the trend given how quickly users of the service began utilizing it to send messages to matches.
OkCupid has begun experimenting with matching questions produced by ChatGPT for users. Michael Kaye, the app's worldwide head of communications, posed the following query to ChatGPT: "What questions should I ask on a dating app and what questions should I ask when dating?"
Do you prefer being an extrovert or an introvert?
Do you prefer the morning or the evening?
What do you like to do on the weekends?
What qualities do you look for in a partner?
How do you choose when to advance a relationship?
In a relationship, how do you strike a balance between your needs and those of your partner?

It turns out that more users who responded were night owls, introverts, and preferred a peaceful weekend at home. The majority of respondents—nearly half—say that they value trust in a partner the most, and they trust their instincts to advance their relationship. By communicating their requirements, making time for themselves, and engaging in social activities alone, daters are able to strike a balance between their demands and those of their partners.
According to Kaye, "We opted to harness ChatGPT to design our renowned in-app matching questions that power our algorithm since daters who think ChatGPT is a life saver obtain roughly 40% more Matches on OkCupid than daters who think it's too big brother." "The chatbot from OpenAI developed a half-dozen questions for us — about everything from what you value most in a mate to how you can balance your personal needs with a partner in a relationship — and daters are liking these new questions," says a representative of the dating site.
More than 125,000 answers have been given to the questions, and Gen Z is undoubtedly in the lead. On OkCupid, 31% of Gen Z daters do not believe that utilizing AI to establish a profile or send messages to other users is a breach of trust.
Yet, OkCupid discovered that 52% of users think using AI on profile photographs is a turn-off, 6% think it's a on, and 43% aren't sure. 47 percent of respondents weren't sure if they would keep dating someone who acknowledged to having first communicated with them using an AI-based bot. 18% of respondents indicated they would keep the relationship going while 34% said they wouldn't.
Months into its existence, ChatGPT is already altering the way some singles date. Our dating lives will most likely change as AI does.
